Welcome to the Compton Bassett Cricket Club

Made up of a team of old codgers the Compton Bassett Cricket Club has an average of 157 (years... the batting average is a lot less!)

As a result we are always looking for new members who can push the old ones in their wheelchairs from crease to crease.

As you can see the photo's take from circa 2007 we still manage to put on a good show and even have our own GP who opens the batting to ensure that he is available throughout the latter stages to revive anyone who needs it!

During half term we enlist the talents of Plymouth University (well, Dave Coward's son, Richard, and his friends) to provide a brief rest bite.

During the course of the game there is much deliberation over the sandwich order and which player will be buying the first pint down the pub afterwards.

All our games are considered 'friendlies' and are played on Sundays during the summer months and so if you are interested in joining us (either as a carer or player!) please contact us below

ELAINE O’Neill is desperately looking for races to sharpen up ahead of the Commonwealth Games, writes KEVIN FAHEY.

A HOST of the county’s most exciting up-and-coming boxers will be on the bill when professional boxing returns to Chippenham next month, for the first time in two decades.

HEAD coach Jason Forster has urged patience ahead of the start of Chippenham’s new campaign on Saturday, insisting his side are still very much a work in progress.

ANDREW Nicholson’s main priority this year remains next month’s World Equestrian Games – but he admits that won’t stop him aiming to win at this weekend’s Burghley Horse Trials, writes RYAN BANGS.
