If there is a delay in answering your call, you may find it helpful to search their website for the answer to your query, or email the correct department. Please note that the phones are busiest between 12pm-2pm so we advise you to call before or after this time.

Customer response times

Telephone

They aim to answer calls within five rings (15 seconds). Libraries within one minute. Their target is to answer 80% of all calls within five rings.

Letters and email

They aim to respond to all written correspondence within ten working days from the day your letter is received.

If your enquiry is going to take longer than ten days to provide a full response, it is their policy to acknowledge your letter within five days - then after ten days to send whatever information they have available with an estimated date for the full response.  They then aim to complete the full response as quickly as possible thereafter. Where legislation dictates otherwise, e.g. Freedom of Information, different timescales may apply.
